#980 | sunday walk up the sugarloaf | | [off]

a couple of weeks ago we went for a classic south county dublin (wicklow) sunday afternoon walk - that i had never done before - up the sugarloaf.
from years of looking at it from a distance i had imagined that it might be quite an arduous walk (for someone as ridiculously unfit as me) so when we arrived i was very relieved to see practically toddling infants (mostly wearing pink coats) ahead of me on the path. it couldn't be too difficult then. surely?
i got a bit of a shock near the top when it turned into a daunting scramble up a near-vertical rock face (i might exagerate slightly). but the threat of being overtaken by a pink-coated infant (they're like mountain goats!) spurred me on to the summit.
the photo (and the walk) were originally inspired by a book i got for aonghus a few years ago.
