we occasionally hang fat balls off the balcony railings. the birds adore them, and for a while it's lovely to have an occasional robin, blue tit or finch come a-pecking. and then the sparrows find them - the sparrows that arrive in flocks of fifteen and demolish all four fat balls in a couple of hours, leaving behind a shit splattered balcony floor.
