this (and yesterday's) photo was taken at meiji jingu a large shinto shrine near cliodhna's house that we jet-laggedly visited on our first day in tokyo.

as far as i can remember and figure out using mr (mrs?) google these are balls of mochi (glutunous rice paste) that are traditionally eaten (?) for boy's day / children's day which was a couple of days later.

anyway. i thought they were purty.
