something slightly different today...
some of my favourite regular reads online are blogs about interiors, furniture and crafty things (particularly these three dublin based ladies; homebug, design-undercover and designindublin - must reads for anyone in dublin interested in home decor!) so, inspired by all the creative diy-ings i've been reading, i've decided to share our most recent diy project - our new pot hanger!
it took us most of last saturday to accomplish - though a fair amount of that was stuck in a traffic jam on the oscar traynor road coming back from picking up the stainless steel sheeting. and as you can see aonghus did most of the work while i supported as general tool passing lackey, tea-maker and official documenter.
here's the skinny on the wares:
the bar and hooks are from the ikea grundtal range (bar: £4.99 ~ €6.20, hooks (pack of 5): £0.99 ~ €1.20) and the stainless steel sheet was cut to order from delvo (€87.70).
the stainless steel sheet is glued to the wall with gun-o-prene glue and aonghus also drilled 4 holes in it for screwing the pot rail to it and to the wall.
and while it might seem like a boring, practical project, i was utterly delighted with the finished job. stainless steel is just so damn *shiny*!! we also got a second piece that we're planning to use as a splashback behind the cooker, but that's a whole other saturday's work.
