we stumbled unexpectedly into this church with a great mouthful of a name - 'basilica santa maria degli angeli e dei martiri'. we were actually looking for an open-top bus when we walked past. i was eating gelati (chocolate & drippy. yum!) and for some reason decided (correctly?) that i shouldn't go into a church whilst eating, so aonghus popped inside first. when he hadn't re-appeard by the time i'd finished the gelati i sticky-handedly followed him in. i think i was half-hoping for a holy-water font where i could bless myself and relieve some of the stickiness but fortunately there was none.
