the bo kaap is an area in cape town where (by accident or design?) the residents have painted their houses in brightly contrasting colours.
it is a muslim area with many mosques (eg. one in the top right of the photo) and the evening we strolled through (to get the coloured houses at their best in the late sun) we happened to hear the muezzin's call to prayer (not something i hear very often (ever. yet.) in dublin) which added to the atmosphere of the place.
